Let's take a moment to appreciate the timeless buzz and trend surrounding bandanas, as well as head fashion accessories in general - I, for one, am fond of the aesthetic of scarves and headbands too.
Nevertheless, the bandanna stands out as my preferred option due to its adaptability ! With numerous ways to don it, this small yet stylish accessory warrants its own blog post dedicated to showcasing "how to wear it".
I'm thrilled to express my fondness for these fantastic fashion accessories and exhibit, in this article, how to style a bandanna. Furthermore, I'll provide you with plenty of inspiration to elevate your appearance this summer.
You may have already spotted (or will soon notice) a small red fashion accessory gracing outfits all over Instagram posts and blogs. It has swiftly become my go-to accessory this season, and I don't think twice about incorporating it into my daily looks.
In fact, I recently purchased two additional colors, enabling me to effortlessly coordinate with my outfit of the day for a more cohesive and stylish appearance.
6 WAYS TO WEAR A BANDANA THIS SUMMER
Although I haven't personally experimented with all these techniques, I'm eager to present various ways to wear a bandanna, should you wish to try them out for yourself.
Let's begin by discussing the different methods of sporting a bandana on your head or in your hair, as there are numerous variations to explore.
1. THE BANDANA HEADBAND
One of my preferred ways to wear a bandanna is as a headband - it's incredibly simple and effortless. I've been sporting this style, along with method number three, throughout the entire summer thus far! This look is perfect for keeping your hair out of your face and keeping cool during the hot summer months, especially if you're in a warm location such as the South of France or Florida.
All you need to do is tie the bandana around your head and leave your hair down, half up, or tied up at the top - it looks fantastic no matter what you choose! You can opt to tie the knot behind your hair or at the top - both options are charming, depending on the desired effect. The bow in front adds a touch of femininity, which is playful and fun.
2. TUPAC SHAKUR INVERTED BANDANA HEADBAND
This technique is quite similar to method previous one (as a headband); however, instead of tying it at the back under your hair, you tie it on top to create a charming little bow. I often wear my bandana like this, particularly when at the beach - it's such an adorable and chic look !
3. THE 90’S BANDANA STYLE
The iconic 90's bandanna style for women has made a comeback in recent years and has become a versatile fashion accessory.
When I was younger, celebrities like Janet Jackson and Aaliyah popularized this style by often pairing bandanas with crop tops, high-waisted jeans, and oversized jackets. Today, I wear this retro trend by incorporating the 90’s bandana style into my streetwear and casual outfits.
4. THE BANDANA PONYTAIL
I love experimenting with ribbons, but using a bandanna to spruce up a ponytail is an easy and delightful way to add some spunk to an otherwise ordinary hairstyle.
Whether you prefer a low or high ponytail, a bandanna can be incorporated effortlessly. My personal preference is a high ponytail. A helpful tip is to first use a headband for added support, then tie the bandanna on top.
Now, let's move on to the various ways you can wear a bandanna around your neck as a collar - there are actually several techniques to explore !
5. THE BANDANA COWGIRL
I have not worn a bandana in this manner personally (at least not yet!), but I have observed several women effortlessly elevate their outfits by styling their bandanna in this fashion. It's definitely something I would like to attempt myself. What about you ?
6. THE BANDANA AROUND YOUR NECK
One additional way to wear a bandanna is by using it as a necklace, as seen in the outfit showcased above. Although this may seem like an unconventional way to wear a bandanna, I find that it looks fantastic when paired with an open neckline dress like this one.
To ensure that the bandanna stays securely in place, it's essential to fold it tightly. This technique works best when using a square-shaped bandana, such as the ones offered by Kamdana.
